Project Update: Historic Germantown
|
|
Eight Marketing is working with Historic Germantown
on a marketing and branding plan as part of a
comprehensive study underway to develop, partner,
launch, package and promote Historic Germantown
as a valuable historic, educational and enjoyable
experience to the community, regional residents and
visitors.
During the month of June, HGP has
been holding a series of discussions with different
community groups, including religious and youth
organizations, business owners, and neighborhood
associations, educators, and senior groups. These
conversations focus on identifying major concerns or
issues in Germantown and possible roles for HGP.
Out of the smaller community meetings will come the
basis for a larger community gathering in early August
to explore what makes Germantown a distinctive
place, what is special about its people and how HGP
and the community can work together to build and
promote a more vibrant Germantown. In addition,
consulting scholars are meeting with project staff to
identify key historical themes and ideas that tie HGP
sites together, creating a framework for more joint
programming and marketing.
Historic Germantown Preserved, Inc. (HGP)
is a group of thirteen historic sites, museums,
historical organizations and an arboretum located in
the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Partners in
Historic Germantown Preserved include Awbury
Arboretum, Cliveden of the National Trust, Concord
Schoolhouse, Deshler-Morris House, Ebenezer
Maxwell House, Germantown Historical Society,
Grumblethorpe, Historic Rittenhouse Town, Johnson
House, Stenton and Wyck.
