Souvenir Comes to the Wilma
|
|
Let the Delusion Continue!
The Media Theatre is proud to announce that its
critically-acclaimed musical Souvenir will be
playing a
two-week engagement at The Wilma Theater June 17-
29.
Souvenir stars Tony Nominee Ann Crumb as
Florence
Foster Jenkins. The work is directed by the Media
Theatre's Jesse Cline.
For more than half a century, the name Florence
Foster Jenkins has been guaranteed to produce
explosions of derisive laughter. Not unreasonably so,
as this wealthy society eccentric suffered under the
delusion that she was a great coloratura soprano
when she was in fact incapable of producing two
consecutive notes in tune.
Nevertheless, her
annual recitals in the ballroom of the Ritz Carlton
hotel, where she resided, brought her extraordinary
fame. As news of her terrible singing spread, so did
her celebrity. Her growing mob of fans packed her
recitals, stuffing handkerchiefs in their mouths to stifle
their laughter. The climax of her career was a single
concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944.

Web 2.0
|
|
Who's Website is it Anyway?
The Web continues to grow every day and being Web
savvy is key in today's business world. Web 2.0 is
quickly taking over.
Web 2.0 refers to the second-generation Internet-
based services: social networking sites,
wikis, communication tools, and folksonomies.
These technologies let people collaborate online and
share information in ways previously unavailable.
Web 2.0 communities can provide you with valuable
product feedback, helping to dramatically shorten
product development time, and identifying
marketing/partnering opportunities.
With Web 2.0, you can manage projects and keep
customers informed regarding where things stand
today with Basecamp from 37
Signals. You
can track
billable hours (for everyone on the team no matter
where their base of operation is) and invoice
customers using FreshBooks. You can skip the
whole
learning curve
and cost of creating and publishing newsletters when
you set up a blog with Typepad or
any other online
blog service.
Soon, all websites will be Web 2.0, continuing to blur
the line between the web master and the web user.
