Paul Robeson House & The Media Theatre
In September, News at Eight reported on the
October
20th launch event for the Stories From the Paul
Robeson House. Taking special note was Patrick
Ward, executive director of The Media Theatre. The
Theatre was staging Showboat, whose 1936
film release starred Paul Robeson asJoe. Surely this
would present an opportunity to have the stars of the
stage production come out to the Paul Robeson
House.
Plans were quickly put in place and the stars
of the show toured the house and Fran Aulston,
executive director of the Paul Robeson House, went
down to Media to see the production.
Soon it
was agreed that the show's star, Phillip Boykin and
his fellow cast members, would appear at the October
20th launch, performing a show stopping rendition of
Ol Man River made famous by Robeson. The
performance so captivated
the packed house
that you could hear a pin drop during the
song.
Eight Marketing was proud to be a catalyst in this
partnership. If you'd like to connect with any of the
organizations you read about in News at Eight,
